The Walnut Tree restaurant opened in Wales in 1963. Its cookbook, published three decades later, transported Italian food from curiosity into the British mainstream Since 1993 I have changed my career, my home, the people I know and the person I live with. In various moves I have lost old photos, the music of my youth and a library full of books. The one constant is my most valued cookbooks, with Leaves from the Walnut Tree among them.
