Action on Smoking and Health said it is a ‘shame the ban had taken so long'
Menthol cigarettes are banned in the UK from today, as the government hopes to deter Brits from taking up smoking.
People can now no longer buy flavoured cigarettes and skinny cigarettes as part of new EU Tobacco Product Directive laws.
Menthol filters are not illegal, although it is now forbidden to sell them packaged with cigarettes or tobacco.
Selling or manufacturing menthol cigarettes is prohibited, but heated tobacco or e-cigarettes are not included in the new rules.
