Hammered by the oil market collapse, BP lost almost $17 billion in the second quarter of 2020 and cut its dividend by 50%, the company said on Tuesday.
The London-based firm also unveiled much-anticipated details about how it plans to become a net-zero emissions company. The firm's stock rose 7% on the news.
By 2030, BP will spend $5 billion a year on low-carbon energy, 10 times more than it does today. It will also shrink oil and gas production by 40%.
