THE former Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland Seamus Mallon has died.
Mr Mallon - who was also a civil rights campaigner - died in Co Armagh this afternoon aged 83.

He served as deputy First Minister from 1998 until 2001 alongside First Minister David Trimble.
The Armagh native was deputy leader of the SDLP from 1979 until 2001. He was elected to the first powersharing assembly in 1973.
Following the announcement this evening, Fianna Fáil Leader Micheál Martin said he was “deeply saddened” by the death of his “political hero”.
