Fortnite banned from App Store as Epic Games sues Apple

Fortnite is no longer on iOS
Apple has removed Fortnite from its App Store because of a dispute over in-app purchases and Epic Games are taking them to court.
Epic Games is suing Apple because they've taken Fortnite off the App Store, as part of a long-running dispute regarding the 30% cut Apple takes from all in-app purchases.
On Thursday, Epic offered an option to buy V-Bucks, Fortnite's in-game currency, directly from them at a 20% discount. This is against the App Store guidelines, which state that all payments have to go through them, so that Apple can claim their 30% of the...

Epic Files Suit Against Apple After Fortnite Removed From App Store

1 month ago   |   By FXCM

Yasin Ebrahim
Investing.com - Game developer Epic Games said it had filed a lawsuit against Apple after the tech giant removed the iOS version of its popular Fortnite game.
Shares of Apple were largely flat following the news.
Epic said it was not seeking monetary compensation from the lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, for the injuries it has suffered, but would seek to establish Apple's App Store as a monopoly, and pave a way to ensure it allows “fair competition.”
The lawsuit comes after Apple claimed Epic had enabled in-app payments in...

Apple just yanked the "Fortnite" app from its store after Epic Games added an in-game direct payment option for players.
The new option would mean that Epic Games could skirt Apple's standard 30% commission that it says it charges all developers in the App Store for in-app purchases.
Developers have long aired their frustration with the company, claiming the 30% fee gives Apple and its own services an unfair advantage in the market.
The "Fortnite" app removal comes as Congress continues to investigate Apple over whether or not the company benefits from anticompetitive business...

Epic Games, the company behind "Fortnite," aired a video on Thursday roasting Apple and its iconic "1984" television ad, after Apple yanked the game from the App Store.
Epic also filed a lawsuit against Apple on Thursday, claiming the company engaged in "unfair and anti-competitive actions."
Epic's video said Apple retaliated against Epic for defying "the App Store Monopoly" and urged "Fortnite" players to "join the fight to stop 2020 from becoming '1984.'"
Titled "Nineteen Eighty-Fortnite," the video was a clear reference to Apple's famous "1984" ad, in which a heroine destroys a screen...
