The Rock's first superhero movie, DC's 'Black Adam,' now has a release date. But he's been teasing the project for years

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson confirmed the release date for his first superhero movie, "Black Adam," in an Instagram post on Thursday.
The movie will hit theaters in December 2021, seven years after Johnson first confirmed that he was cast as the character.
Warner Bros. and DC have been focusing on standalone stories rather than a connected movie universe after "Justice League" disappointed at the box office in 2017.

The Rock has been talking about playing anti-hero Black Adam since 2014 and now we finally have an idea of how he'll look in the suit.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson shared concept art of him as the DC character on Instagram Thursday.
"My superhero dreams have come true," Johnson wrote on Instagram. "I'm honored to join the iconic DCUniverse and it's a true pleasure to become, Black Adam."
