The contest is now down to the final three
Emily Thornberry has been eliminated from the Labour leadership contest after narrowly failing to secure enough nominations.
She was just two short of the required 33 pledges of support to make it onto the final ballot of party members.
The Shadow Foreign Secretary said it was a ‘shame' she had not gone through but praised her ‘brilliant' team who had been ‘operating on a shoe string.'
Ms Thornberry had 31 nominations from local constituency parties - two short of the 33 she required to go forward.
She did not get any nominations from Labour...
