Manifesto: Treat the internet like your living room

This week in 1997, I connected to the internet for the first time. It bonged and pinged and then suddenly, there I was, on the worldwide web on my Pentium 133, using Netscape as a browser and Alta Vista as a search engine. My Compuserve email address was merely a string of numbers.
As someone who has form for being a bit of a hippie, it initially seemed like something out of a science fiction novel by Arthur C Clarke.
