Is Netflix's Lupin based on a book?
Lupin is the French series that has taken Netflix by storm since dropping on the streaming platform earlier this month.
The heist-thriller, starring Omar Sy, has been riding high in the top 10 Netflix charts across the globe, peaking at number one in a number of countries including France, Brazil, Spain and Italy.
It was reported that within 28 days of its release, Lupin was watched by 70million households, so it's no surprise that Netflix has already confirmed a second seasons is on its way.
The French Netflix original series is described as a ‘contemporary reading' of the Gentleman Thief, with many wondering whether Lupin is based on a book.
Is Lupin based on a book?
The answer to that is both yes and no. It is loosely inspired by a series of books from French author Maurice Leblanc, who created the fictional character Arsène Lupin in literature dating back to 1905.
