Wage deferrals imminent as Aberdeen begin cost-cutting

Aberdeen hope their cost-cutting measures announced today will protect as many people as possible at the club.
The Dons are expected to announce wage deferrals at some point today, as part of ongoing measures to ease the club's cash flow during the shutdown of the football season.
Chairman Dave Cormack declared last month that the club faced a £5 million shortfall with the lack of matchday income, with no resumption of the football season in sight. His fellow director Rob Wicks said on Wednesday the club was looking at a range of measures and the Dons were in constant discussions with a prominent investor group over any plans.
A club spokesperson said last night: “Over the last week, everyone at the club, from the investors to the manager, his coaching staff, players and club staff have been working hard to minimise the impact of the tough decisions we are facing, particularly on lower-paid employees.
