Legendary composer Ennio Morricone has died aged 91 after an incredible career spanning more than 500 films.
He broke out for his work on so-called Spaghetti Westerns including A Fistful of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More, and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, but went on to produce memorable scores in a wide variety of other genres.
He passed away earlier today at the Campus Bio-Medico in Rome.
Speaking on BBC Breakfast, Inception composer Hans Zimmer paid tribute to Morricone's work, describing him as an “icon.”

Italian composer Ennio Morricone has died at the age of 91.
Morricone is best known for writing score for hit movies including Sergio Leone's The Good, The Bad And The Ugly.

Legendary composer Ennio Morricone has died at the age of 91.
The Italian composer, who is best known for scoring The Good, the Bad and the Ugly , died in Rome last week following complications from a fall, according to The Hollywood Reporter .
Morricone, who scored more than 500 films, is widely regarded as one of cinema's greatest composers and won a long-overdue Oscar for his work on Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight in 2015.
