Meegan's disorder proved fatal when combined with excessive protein intake
A heartbroken mum whose bodybuilding daughter died as a result of a protein-heavy diet is warning others of the potential dangers of fitness supplements.
Meegan Hefford, 25, died in June 2017, after paramedics found her collapsed on her bedroom floor.
She had no idea she was suffering from a rare urea cycle disorder which meant her body was unable to properly digest protein.
But the mother-of-two was packing so much protein into her diet as she trained at the gym for hours every day.
