An American woman has become the first person to ever swim across the English Channel four times without stopping. Open water marathon swimmer Sarah Thomas completed the challenge on Monday morning after more than 54 hours of swimming. While the swim was due to be 80 miles, the 37-year-old ended up swimming almost 134 miles due to strong currents, according to her tracker. AMERICAN woman Sarah Thomas has become the first person to swim the English Channel four times in a row.
She arrived in Dover this morning after more than 54 hours in the water.
Ms Thomas was pushed back by strong tides on the final leg but finished at about 6.30am.
Before this only four swimmers had crossed the Channel three times without stopping.
No-one had ever completed a fourth leg.
