Police confirm 12-year-old has been arrested over racist abuse of Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha

The West Midlands Police Department have this evening confirmed that a boy of just 12 years of age has been taken into custody, in connection with the online racist abuse of Wilfried Zaha.

In a concerning story across the English media this morning, it came to light that Crystal Palace star Zaha had been subjected to a string of racially motivated insults on Saturday night.
The messages, via Twitter, came in anticipation of the Eagles' meeting with Aston Villa this afternoon, and appeared to come courtesy of a fan of the latter.

West Midlands Police has confirmed they have arrested a 12-year-old boy after Wilfried Zaha was subjected to racist abuse on social media ahead of Crystal Palace's match against Aston Villa on Sunday. Zaha shared screenshots of the mesages he had been sent to his Instagram account in the early hours of Sunday morning, including one of members of the white supremacist organisation the Ku Klux Klan. “Woke up to this today,” wrote the Ivory Coast international.

West Midlands Police have announced that a 12-year-old from Solihull has been arrested after directing vile racist abuse towards Wilfried Zaha before Aston Villa's win against Crystal Palace earlier today.
Zaha took to Twitter earlier today to share the disgusting abuse he'd received from the account of an Aston Villa fan, which included shocking references to the Ku Klux Klan.

A 12-year-old boy from Solihull, Birmingham has been arrested after a string of vile, racist messages were sent to Crystal Palace footballer Wilfried Zaha.
The Ivory Coast international tweeted this morning to reveal a series of racist messages he had received from an Aston Villa fan on Instagram.
The user, jackdolan avfc, sent Zaha photos of the Ku Klux Klan and told the winger: ‘You better not score tomorrow you black c***. Or I'll come to your house dressed as a ghost.'
