BBC announces 450 jobs will go in newsroom shake-up

Confirmation Victoria Derbyshire will be axed together with job losses at Newsnight and 5 live The BBC is to cut 450 jobs from its news operation while covering fewer stories, the corporation has told staff, as part of an effort to save £80m from its budget. Head of news Fran Unsworth made the announcement on Wednesday that journalists at the corporation would increasingly be pooled in centralised teams rather than working for specific programmes.

The Victoria Derbyshire Show was axed recently
The BBC is thought to be slashing around 250 jobs in a shock cut to the news division, following the axe of the Victoria Derbyshire show .
According to reports, Newsnight and Radio 4's Today show are set to be affected by the cuts, as well as BBC One's News at Six and News at 10 bulletins.
There are currently around 3,200 employees working across the news and current affairs teams.
And it has been claimed that no shows have been ‘ringfenced' for protection against the news, as the company attempts to save £80million.
